Opportunity Agenda for Black Men: Localizing a National Initiative Through Strategic Community Engagement
Vice President Harris Roundtable | Erie, PA
Role:
Lead National Advance Associate, Harris-Walz Presidential Campaign
Challenge
The campaign sought to introduce the Opportunity Agenda for Black Men, a national policy initiative focused on economic mobility, entrepreneurship, health equity, financial inclusion, and expanded opportunities for Black men.
The challenge was translating a national announcement into an authentic local engagement that reflected the initiative's values while creating meaningful dialogue with trusted community voices.
Approach
Rather than selecting a traditional event space, I identified and secured Legenderie Records & Coffee House, a newly opened Black-owned business that reflected the initiative's message of entrepreneurship and community investment.
As Lead Advance Associate, I also directed key production elements, including:
Strategic venue selection
Event production and operational planning
Media placement and camera positioning
Press and stakeholder logistics
Executive movement and event flow
Day-of execution
Every production decision was designed to align the message, audience, and environment.
The Outcome
The roundtable successfully brought together Vice President Kamala Harris and seven local community leaders in a setting that authentically reflected the campaign's policy objectives while delivering a seamless experience for attendees, media, and campaign leadership.
